Currently, the 545,500 mu of high-quality machine-harvestable cotton in Changji City, Xinjiang, has fully emerged, with the rows clearly visible, marking the entry into a critical period for field management. In recent days, cotton-growing townships across the city have mobilized agricultural technicians to visit the fields, guiding cotton farmers and cooperatives in mechanized inter-row cultivation. Through scientific field management, they aim to improve soil conditions and boost seedling growth, ensuring the cotton successfully reaches the budding and flowering stages and laying a solid foundation for a bumper harvest and increased farmer income.
As a major cotton-producing area in Changji City, Erliugong Town has seen all 34,000 mu of its machine-harvestable cotton emerge, with inter-row cultivation now nearing completion. In a 1,000-mu high-standard cotton field in the town's Guangming Village, teams of large cultivation machines are operating in a coordinated formation to efficiently loosen the soil, ensuring orderly field maintenance.
According to machine operator Wang Cunjun, the equipment used is tailored to local row spacing, featuring a working width of 5.6 meters and a cultivation depth stably controlled between 15 and 20 centimeters. Capable of covering 250 mu per day, the machinery offers the advantages of uniform deep cultivation and consistent work quality. The operations team is racing against the clock to advance the work efficiently, strictly adhering to township directives and agricultural technical standards.
Reports indicate that the cotton in Erliugong Town is growing steadily with uniform emergence. The town has coordinated 30 large cultivation machines to work across different zones; currently, 90% of the cultivation work is complete, with full completion expected by June 8. Two full-time agricultural technicians from the town regularly visit the fields to provide end-to-end guidance to farmers on implementing refined field management measures.
The 545,500 mu of machine-harvestable cotton in Changji City is distributed across nine townships, and the crop is currently showing promising growth. Municipal agricultural authorities have mobilized 65 technicians to work on the front lines, guiding farmers in mechanized inter-row cultivation and soil loosening to improve soil aeration and encourage deep root penetration. To date, 78% of the cultivation work across the city's cotton fields has been completed, with the remaining tasks expected to wrap up by June 15, thereby safeguarding stable production and increased income for the cotton sector.
